For your adjustment range, you need to measure the length of your sash window track from the furthest left to right. The adjustment range of your pet door should ideally have your track length in the middle. The following adjustment ranges are available:
22"-25"
25"-28"
28"-31"

37"-40"
40"-43"
Custom orders are subject to special restrictions.

Aluminum panel has 1" framing, measure your track width to make sure that your window will accommodate the panel. Vinyl panels have a 1-1/4" framing.

Track Measurement Guide x

In order to choose the correct panel size, you will need to measure your sliding glass door track.

Please Note: These instructions are for channel-style sliding door tracks. If you have a monorail track, these instructions do not apply.

Step 1Find the Lowest Corner of Your Track

With your sliding door open, insert one end of your measuring tape at the deepest point of the lower corner of your sliding glass door track.

Make sure the tape measure is flush to the corner. There may be a part of your door track blocking the lowest point of the corner.

Step 2Find the Highest Corner of Your Track

Line the measuring tape up the side of your doorway, stopping at the highest corner. Make sure the measuring tape is flush with the corner and is not blocked.

The distance from the lowest corner of your track to the highest corner of your track is your sliding glass door track height.

Select the Height Adjustment Range that includes your track height. Some brands have custom options if your track height does not fall into one of the ranges.

Step 3Measure Your Track Width

Using your tape measure, find the width of the bottom track your sliding glass door slides along.

Most aluminum panels require a track at least 1" wide and most vinyl panels require a track at least 1.5" wide.

Check the product details to ensure the panel will fit in your track.

How to Measure Your Window x

Step 1Locate Further Point Left On Your Window Track

With your sash window open, insert one end of your measuring tape at the leftmost point in your window track.

Make sure the measuring tape is flush with the lowest point of the corner and is not blocked.

Step 2Measure to the Rightmost Corner of Your Track

Line the measuring tape along the length of your window track, stopping at the rightmost corner. Make sure the measuring tape is flush with the corner and is not blocked.

The distance from the leftmost corner of your track to the rightmost corner of your track is your window width

Select the Custom Width Adjustment Range required for your window track length

Step 3Measure Your Track Width

Using your measuring tape, find the width of the bottom track that your window slides along.

Make sure to check the product details to ensure the panel will fit in your track.

Please read instructions & notes thoroughly before installation.

Step 1 Release Spring Mechanism

Loosen the width adjustment locks at the end of the pet door insert with the screwdriver. This allows the spring mechanism to move freely from side to side.

Step 2 Check Panel Fit

Insert the sash into the window track. Push against the spring mechanism and swing the opposite end into the opposite window track. Gently release. Tighten the width adjustment locks.

Step 3 Apply Weatherstripping

Remove panel from window track.
Apply the foam weather-stripping by peeling back the paper and exposing the adhesive. Unroll it along the edge of the sash, pressing to ensure it adheres. Install on both the top and the bottom. Trim to fit with scissors.

Step 4 Mount Seal Draft Stopper

Mount the Center Post Weather Seal Draft Stopper. This strip prevents air from leaking between the window frame when raised to accommodate the sash. Trim to fit with scissors.
Put the panel back into the window track. Tighten width adjustment locks.

Switch the Side of the Flap

You can switch which side of the sash panel the pet door flap is on to best fit your home.

Step 1

Remove the screws on the top and bottom closest to the edge of the pet door. Then slightly loosen the screws closest to the glass. Next, slide off the side piece, then the flap assembly.

Step 2

Rotate the flap assembly (essentially flipping it upside down) then slide it back in. Make sure the locking cover is on the same side as the width adjustment locks.

Step 3

Replace the end spacer and screws.

LOCKING YOUR WINDOW

For a permanent lock, install a wood screw in the track immediately above the window on both sides. You will no longer be able to raise the window. For a temporary lock, place a removable wooden dowel or Charley bar in either track above the window, shown in Detail 1.

HEIGHT OF YOUR WINDOW

Make sure you place steps or ramps leading to your pet’s door at a height that works! When they go through the flap, the top of the flap should be at least 1" (2,5 cm) higher than the top of their back. Watch your pet and adjust as needed to keep them comfortable.

My flap broke! How do I fix it?

You can easily fix your flap with the Liberty Pet Door Replacement Flap.

How does the frame adapt to different temperatures?

When temperatures drop, the vinyl flap shrinks. On other pet doors, this will cause the magnetic closures on the flap to no longer connect with the frame. The Liberty Pet Door solves this issue by having the frame magnets extend outwards to meet the magnets. When temperatures rises and the flap expands again, the magnets move back into the frame.

What keeps drafts from coming in through the pet door?

The pet door is sealed against drafts by its magnetic closures and its weatherstripping.

How do I change the flap?

You can easily switch out the flap by unscrewing the flap from the adapter. Then all you need to do is screw the new flap into the adapter.
